A Letter from the Founder
I am a product of bilingual education. Bilingualism is more than a skill — it is a gateway to cognitive flexibility, cultural understanding, and expanded opportunity.

Global Citizenship Academy was founded on the belief that education must evolve to meet the demands of an increasingly interconnected, multilingual world. After three decades in public and charter classrooms — as a teacher of Spanish and Italian, a department head, and an instructional leader — I set out to design a school that pairs rigorous academics with bilingual mastery, cultural literacy, and leadership development.

Cemran speaks Spanish, English, Italian, Turkish, and French — a living embodiment of the biliterate, globally fluent graduate GCA is built to shape.

Our commitment is to build a school community defined by educational excellence, strong governance, engaged families, and dedicated educators — a place where every student develops the knowledge, character, and global awareness to lead in the 21st century.

What Makes GCA Different

A high school designed for a bilingual world.

Three commitments that shape every classroom, every course, and every conversation with a family.

01

A bridge year, not a gate.

Most dual-language programs select only students who already speak the target language. GCA opens the door wider. The Preparatory Academy gives every student — regardless of language background — a structured path into Grade 9.

02

Academic Spanish, taught like a scholar's tool.

Content is delivered in Spanish and English with explicit language objectives, ACTFL-aligned benchmarks, and Seal-of-Biliteracy readiness built into the graduation profile.

03

Whole-child, not just high scores.

Multi-tiered supports, culturally responsive teaching, and bilingual family communication — so every student is met where they are, and every parent is a partner in the work.

Governance & Leadership

An independent nonprofit board.

GCA is governed by an independent, nonprofit Board of Directors committed to academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, and charter compliance. Day-to-day school operations remain with school leadership; the board provides oversight, policy, and long-range stewardship.
